[permaculture-oceania] Trombe walls

The solar box collector is a box-like device added or built into to a
building which works on the same principles of heat collection and
convection as a Trombe Wall during the day but provides no thermal
storage for evening heating. A Trombe Wall is generally the actual
wall of the building on the sun side, painted black with glass on the
external side - usually materials with good thermal mass qualities
are recommended for the wall (e.g. earth, brick). Painted black, more
heat is absorbed during the day & the glass provides insulation to
ensure greater internal heat gain (or less heat loss) during the
night. These have been particularly successful in cold dryland
climates with extreme daily temperature fluctuations.
