The Rainforest Information Centre is pleased to announce the
completion of our latest film...

APPIKO (To Embrace)

This is the inspirational story of how a non-violent grassroots
movement to protect nature arose in the villages of South India. In
the tradition of Gandhi and the Chipko movement, women, men and
children hugged the trees in direct action to save the forests of the
Western Ghats of Karnataka. (running time: 30 minutes)

The film also includes an additional video, "Cinnamon, Spices and
NTFPS" that tells how the Appiko movement is now developing
non-timber forest products such as cinnamon and spices. A good
addition to a permaculture course! (running time: 10 minutes)
