G'day Laurence,
If it's a scam then it's a pretty old one - about 3,000 years I believe!
The things you need were readily available to the Indian farmer at little or
no cost. I have a friend who practises Agnihotra and he highly recommends
it. It's not a tool for every permaculturist but it may be useful for
people who need to establish a routine or for people who have spiritual
tendencies.
