interest/documentation about inputs (allowed/prohibited) rather than
the systems approach, although NASAA (our certifier) does document
some 'sustainability' factors (biodiversity, native vegetation, water
etc)
Try talking with your supplier about what can't be sourced locally or
from Australia and wonder why.
Hats off,
and back to work

<excerpt>Here's a dilemma to do with organic and local food.
I prefer to buy organically grown food that is produced in the region.
I know that this is not always possible so I compromise with food
produced within the country. I get this from an organic home delivery
service. I like the service because it is only marginally more
expensive than supermarkets and because the produce is consistently
high quality and fresh. What is more, home delivery means that I do
not have to trudge the aisles. There is an organic food store some
kilometres from where I am temporarily living and an organic farmers
market equally distant, however I would prefer to stay with the home
delivery service because of the level of service it provides and
because it supports a livelihood in the organic sector.
The dilemma comes about when I receive items like juices and cereal.
Sometimes, they are Australian made but lately they have been products
that originate in Italy and bear the logo of the Italian organic
certification agency.
I understand that my supplier can obtain only what is offered at the
wholesale market. I also know that the organic food industry is now as
global as the conventional food industry.
So, do I buy local/regional but non-organic or organic and imported?
