Dear All,

I have just put in seeds for a small lawn of native grasses, mostly
wallaby grasses. (The seeds come from our garden.) I did this hoping
that they will take less nutrients and water from the trees than an
introduced non-creeping grass.

Can anyone verify this?

The trees are at least 1m away from the grass. The other reason for
using native grasses are to get deep roots and toughness in terms of
being walked on.
(We are in Melbourne - hot mostly dry summers with cold mostly dry
winters with a bit of frost. Autumn can be wet, sometimes, not now.)

Cheers
Petra
