I trust that this greets you and all well.

 

Thanks for the thoughts. I haven’t used a D5 before – only much larger
machines. I must say that this machine was amazing: made more so in Ringo’s
(aka Paul Kean) hands. Very high ground speed when pushing, reversing and
moving from job to job. It used about 15l/hr of fuel and all up cost about
$120/hr (hire, insurance, float, operator and fuel – thru CATRENT). We were
able to build 4 wetlands in less than a day, along with a heap of road
access clearance, tree felling etc. The former were constructed as an
alternative to using concrete culverts (300mm Ø RC) which are both emergy
rich and multiple use poor. These little 0.5ML wetlands cost about $200/each
which is about $600 less than the RC pipe/endwall alternative. They should
be full after this past week’s rainfall. I’ll get some photo’s this week to
follow up.
