Subject: Visit to Jackie French's Garden in Braidwood

  Hi Everyone

  When: Sunday, 26th November 2006.

  Time: Either 10.00 - 1.00 p.m. or 2.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.

Cost per Adult: $55.00 including morning or afternoon tea.

I spoke to Jackie French's agent and she has informed me that they will be having another open garden at Braidwood in November. The open garden in April this year was cancelled due to really unavoidably dry weather. This is very special as she only opens her garden once or twice a year at the most.

Jackie's garden is about two hours from Canberra or Goulburn.

Some of the gardening topics that will run are

a.. Almost self sufficiency - how to grow just about everything in your backyard
b.. Cleopatra's deodorant, Queen Victoria Floor Polish and Jackie's favourite perfume - how to make just about everything good at home.
c.. Why fruit fly love ginger beer and other simple pest control techniques
d.. Controlling weeds with cunning and no herbicides.
e.. Learn how to grow fruit in a small area and a challenging climate including avocadoes, bush tucker, coffee, tea cinnamon and over 100 apple varieties and hundreds of herbs.

The topics will however depend on what the agent will tell us if we book.

Jackie's garden welcomes the wildlife such as wallabies to wombats, fruit bats and over 100 species of birds

If you would like to come along to this open garden in November can you please notify me by the end of June or earlier if possible so that I can work out who would like to come or not.

  Happy Gardening

  Heike RobertsJ
