[permaculture-oceania] hide tanning

Kerry, 
on consulting an informed friend. He said it is hard work, you have to make sure the hide is very clean of meat, get a tanning kit (did not say were from). Also if you don't tan the hide within a day, it has to be cured or the fur will start falling out apparently.  am sure you could find instructions on internet.

  Can anyone provide information on tanning? I have small hide salvaged from a calf that died, and would like to try tanning it - just for experience. No idea where to start. Any advice would be appreciated, or leads to information.
