Sydney Mechanics¹ School of Arts Presents

The Ethical Omnivore

Is there anything left that we can eat? With all the conflicting headlines,
no wonder we can't decide what to buy. Everything, it seems, is ethically,
nutritionally or environmentally incorrect. Is guilt ruining our appetites?

Choosing what to eat and drink has become hard work. It¹s not simply a case
of taste or price. Now we have to ask ourselves: is this good for my health?
Have animals suffered? Is it local? Organic? Bad for the planet? Harvested
by child workers?

Join John Newton (SMH Food Critic), Simon Marnie (ABC Radio Presenter),
Samantha Wight (Master of Gastronomy), Alex Herbert (Restaurateur, Bird Fish
Cow) and Catriona Macmillan (Publisher, The Organics Directory) as they
discuss the truths, myths and realities of being an ethical omnivore.
