Ricinus communis. Oil is used as a lubricant. Castor occurs as a weed along
railway tracks and in unmanaged land and is commercially grown in PNG.
With cultivation or wild harvest, remember that the red fruit is extremely
toxic. I don't remember where, who or when, but the toxin - ricin - was
mentioned as of concern in relation to its use in terrorism, presumably for
poisoning drinking water supplies, though you would need a lot to do this -
as I said, I don't recall the context the toxin was mentioned in.
