I P C 8
I offer this comment for debate in order to stimulate the intellect
of where Permaculture is and may be heading through IPC8 and beyond.
Many of us have seen the movies of the last 10-15 years and off
course more recently "Inconvenient Truth", "Future of Food", "After
the Warming",
"The Banks" etc. etc. etc. For those of us who were fortunate
enough to survive a Mollison course and be party to the all night
debates Bill clearly pointed out many of the details that are central
to these movies. One comment Bill made that clearly stuck was don't
buy land below 5.000m above sea level. Well according to Al Gore its
now 14m. So what of the Banks and the Food. Well as you all know Bill
had/has plenty to say about these too.
My question is Why are We still in bed with the Banks at IPC 8. Where
is the global Permaculture community on all these issues when we as a
species is about to experience its greatest ever crisis. With the
loss of the poles will the planet loose its cosmic electromagnetic
axial balance and begin to spin/oscillate or float about into the
cosmos ?
I have offered a workshop on this subject for IPC 8 but have had no
reply as yet...perhaps I will offer it as a DVD give away.
I loudly applaude Ali Shariff and his team for bringing back IPCs but
I, like many I guess, feel a greater urgency to pull together for our
children and childrens children. Or is it too late ? as EF Schumacher
told us 40 years ago. Do we now start running workshops on HTBO & KYAG.
I look forward to some debate on IPC 8...9...10 and our future
scenarios, especially as a structureless global organisation.
