Apologies for cross postings
Dear Friends,
I'm not sure if you've heard of Satish as he's not particularly well
known in Australia yet. He's been a long-time environmental and peace
campaigner in the manner of Gandhi's peaceful non-violet action. I'm
just reading his autobiography "You Are Therefore I Am: A declaration
of dependence" and it's absolutely fascinating to learn how Satish
has interwoven his personal and spiritual commitment to social change
with his public actions during his life.
Over the past decades through his editing of Resurgence Magazine and
founding of Schumacher College in the UK, Satish has worked closely
with many of the leaders of the international ecological
sustainability movement including EF Schumacher ("Small is Beautiful"
economist and author), Jonathon Porritt (Friends of the Earth
founder), Jim Lovelock (Gaia theory), Vandana Shiva (Indian author,
educator, activist), Helena Norberg-Hodge ("Ancient Futures" author,
localisation champion), and Stephan Harding (Gaian scientific leader
and academic director at Schumacher College). He brings an
extraordinary personal and professional story to Australia with his
visit in early May and I believe, will greatly inspire those of us
interested in sustainability and community revitalisation.
