[Pil-pc-oceania] fumigated pallets

Aside from the health risks of the fumigants used, what kind of timber is it
coming out of china and malaysia. I hate to jump to quick judgement but the
likely hood of it being old growth jungle forest / orangutan (for example)
habitat would have to be fairly high. is there the potential for planting a
fast growing useful hedge type plant instead? or another solution? here are
some of the common fumigants and some effects...long so only read if
interested...

methylbromide is one of the fumigants used although apparently being phased
out. There is conflicting information out there on its health effects but
from what i can see it is an accumulant, cell growth stimulant (cancer
causing), nervous system supressant, respiritory system irritant..etc.etc.

Wikipedia has info on it and here is another link

http://pmep.cce.cornell.edu/profiles/extoxnet/haloxyfop-methylparathion/methyl-bromide-ext.html

I dont think i would go with it IF THIS IS WHAT IT HAS BEEN FUMIGATED WITH.
Maybe it would pay to find out but then I dont imagine any of the others
would be much better. make sure you read a range of sources if the fumigant
is not MB as many i read just say that this is what Aust. uses and dont
really mention health effects. good luck

ps i am no expert... maybe someone has a better idea?
