I hasten to add that Tony Burke, the new ALP Govt Minsiter for Agriculture, also has Fisheries and Forestry in his portfolio.
Tony Burke: minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.

Lucky are those who own land with forests, as they may now be leigible to sell carbon credits.

There will be no shortage of buyers now that Kyoto has finally been ratified.

  12. Climate Change: Land Use - Agriculture & Forestry (Issues Paper) 

  Details: The Garnaut Review Secretariat invites interested parties to make submissions in response to "Issues Paper 1 - Climate Change: Land Use - Agriculture and Forestry". The paper can be downloaded from the Garnaut Review website at

  http://www.garnautreview.org.au/CA25734E0016A131/pages/submissions This paper is the first in a series of papers on key issues to be covered by the Garnaut Review, and includes a summary of climate change issues relating to the agriculture and forestry sectors raised at the public forum in August 2007. The paper intends to raise, explore and seek input on four key issues facing Australian agriculture and forestry as a result of climate change, and their participation in the efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including:

  ·     adaptation in the agriculture and forestry sectors;

  ·     mitigation options for agriculture and forestry;

  ·     practical considerations in relation to the inclusion of agriculture and forestry in an emissions trading scheme;

  ·     recognition of carbon sinks and offsets.

  Submissions should be received by: Friday 4 January 2008, and will be made available on the Review website unless specifically requested to be confidential.
