I was lucky and given an old hand chaff cutter, it is very rusty, and very
dangerous as it has an exposed blade, but imagine if we can get it going!!

Also we need to know how to properly use old tools eg a sythe, apparently
there is a knack both to use and how to sharpening.

It even gets down to learning skills on eg milking goats.  That is my latest
attempt, with our goat Nugmeg, we are milking daily, and I have even made my
first cheese - then she got mastitis, so now that is being treated.  How was
it treated before antibiotics???

So many things to learn, but it seems to be impossible to do it yourself, so
there comes the village or community that makes it so important to work
together.  David Holmgren said sustainability is a community activity not a
couple activity (my paraphrasing) or your are exhausted like John Seymour
became in trying to do it all yourself.

So we need to learn lots of things, exciting eh?

Dear All,

I feel a strong desire for little machines coming on that are being
powered by hand or foot, like a pedalling sewing machine, a vegetable
grater which is operated with a long cranck -
stuff like that
gardening and cultivating tools, harvesters etc. too

whatever we need/ might want to use post oil.

Has anyone a source of these things
or anyone interested in starting to make these?
Or even just information about them?

Every now and then I actually get excited about the changes we face and
being part of it.
