Hi everyone,

This is a call for volunteers for Sustainable House Day, which will be 
happening in Sydney over the weekend of September 8th & 9th 2007.  We'd 
like to open around a dozen houses across Sydney, but need at least 1 
Volunteer Lead Organiser (VLO) and 2 ordinary volunteers per house.  
We'd therefore like to have some idea of the number of available 
volunteers before planning progresses too much further.
A brief description of the role of the VLO and ordinary volunteer is 
outlined below. The day is meant to be enjoyable for all involved, which 
includes the volunteers!

It'd be great if you could let me know by mid March if you think you'll 
be a 'definite starter'.  I'd also like to have some 'reserve' 
volunteers in case any of the definite starters have to pull out at the 
last minute.

Over the last couple of years, we've tried to open houses in the Western 
& Southern suburbs on the Saturday, and the Norhern & Eastern suburbs on 
the Sunday.  We're probably looking at a similar scheme again this year.

If you're interested in volunterring, we'd like to know the following 
details:

- Name and contact details (email, phone etc)
- Preferred day & area to volunteer in (if any)
- Whether you have your own transport, and, if so, are you happy to 
provide transport for other volunteers. (Note: Some of the open houses 
will be within walking distance of public transport).
- Whether you'd like to be a Volunteer Lead Orgainiser, or an ordinary 
volunteer.
- Whether you think you'll be a 'definite starter' or are not so sure 
and want to go on a 'reserve' list.


Role descriptions:

Ordinary volunteer:
Arriving at the designated house an hour or so before SHD officially 
begins (to be advised), and, if possible, staying at the house until the 
end of the event.  House open times will likely be from 10 or 11am to 4 
or 5 pm.  Volunteers are responsible for welcoming visitors, collecting 
ticket monies, distributing tickets, recording visitor numbers, and 
helping to ensure the safe and efficient movements of visitors through 
the site.

Volunteer Lead Organiser:
The VLO is the key contact person fro matters relating to the opening 
of the nominated display home.
Duties include:  Receiving, setting up and packing away of signage, 
materials, paperwork and monies associated with SHD.  Return membership 
forms to ANZSES and bank monies afterwards.  Supervising, scheduling and 
helping volunteers on the day.  May help lead house tours if confident 
to do so.
