Yes, Honore¹s is a good roundup of things Slow from what I recall read it
over a year ago and was interested to find that it is still in the
bookshops.
If you are interested in this theme - slow living¹, let¹s call it - there¹s
a book that I first noticed earlier last year in Gleebooks, a specialist
bookseller on Glebe Point Road in Sydney¹s Inner West, and a place where you
can find harder-to-get titles. I don¹t recall it¹s title but it is published
by UNSW Publishers and appears to be someone¹s
thesis-converted-to-popular-book-format that investigates the Slow Food
movement and Slow Food organisation, including its politics. Looks an
interesting book and, surprisingly, it has resurfaced in the local bookshop
here in Manly Humphrey¹s really a large newsagency with an extensive
book section, though it is apparently not stocked by the local Angus &
Robertson¹s. Thought it a little too specialised and its tone a little
learned for Humphreys.
While on books, I received a copy of a new book on Australian seeds for
review in the Seed Savers Network newsletter I am presently editing and
laying out. It¹s a book for the seed aficionado, especially those working in
related industries such as native seed collection/propagation and has colour
pictures in plenty showing seeds.
Sweedman L, Merritt D, 2006; Australian Seeds a guide to their collection,
identification and biology; CSIRO, Collingwood. ISBN 0 643 09132 7 (hbk) 0
643 09298 6 (pbk).
I follow the book scene a bit and have seen a number off other titles that
would be of potential interest to those working in
Permaculture/sustainability. I¹ll list these in a later email.
