Good point Linda, however the options for 'testing' yourself
as a designer are many and varied. In the UK, and most
other parts of europe, those who complete a PDC are invited
to then do two years of peer-monitored work, and are
peer-assessed before being awarded a diploma (Tagari
diploma). This is a great opportunity to 'just do it' but
also have some support.

The absence of this peer-monitored structure in Australia
was one of the reasons why it has been attractive to engage
with the cumbersome government accredited system.
Fortunately wwe now have choices of levels of formality and
it is not either/or. The PDC/Tagari diploma stream and the
APT stream are complementary as far as I am concerned.
