PermaBlitzes/ permaculture working bees for me are the practise of
involving the community with your design and implementation of
permaculture, rather than plodding away isolated, on your own little patch
trying to be "self-sufficient". Permaculture, in my view isn't about
"self-sufficiency". Permaculture, I think works best in communities.

PermaBlitzes are not like a packet soup, they are like inviting others
around to help chop up the onions, add the spices and make and share the
soup... which is far more satisfying (I feel) than making and eating the
soup by yourself. Inviting others around to help make the soup, means that
you can make a bigger amount in a more concentrated period of time. It's
more productive, plus everyone is learning how you make your delicious soup
and enjoying it together at the end of the day.

A Friend recently sent me the following on the subject of Permaculture
Blitzing & Makeovers:-

"I have a philosophical problem with this blitz concept. For me, it is not
dissimilar from what has happened with food....
instead of spending the time in making a rich stock, slicing and browning
onions, simmering simmering simmering to enhance flavours, adjusting a
little seasoning, then ladling the rich broth into a bowl and topping it
with meltingly delicious cheese croutons - we simply buy a packet of
no-name French Onion Soup for about 45 cents and pour on boiling water!!!!
Which nourishes neither spirit nor body........."

Is Fast Permaculture an Oxymoron???
