The APT participants at Djanbung Gardens have taken on coordinating the
Nimbin Climate Action Group with great enthusiasm and will be organising a
monthly Passion Café (see below) at Djanbung plus a monthly study group to
undertake research and develop practical strategies for the local region.
 
The first week of semester coincided with John Seeds Climate Change Despair
and Empowerment presentation in Nimbin. John Seed and Ruth Rosenheck
(Rainforest Information Centre) are conducting these evenings around the
state and have encouraged communities to set up their local CAGs (Climate
Action Groups) to continue on with local issues and responses.

Erda Institute Inc has adopted the Nimbin CAG under it's association
umbrella and the facilities at Djanbung Gardens have been made available for
activities and meetings.

At the inaugural  Passion Café
 Djanbung Gardens, Nimbin

The Passion Café will be held monthly to provide an open environment where
people can share their passion for building a sustainable community to meet
the challenges of climate change and peak oil. The café will feature guest
speakers, discussions and an opportunity to exchange information and ideas
to develop strategies for local initiatives.
 
This month the evening is being organised by the Nimbin Climate Action
Group, and themed "Beyond Politics ­ Putting the Planet First".
Local candidates running in the upcoming state election will be present to
answer questions about their policies to address issues of climate change
and sustainability for the state and our local region.

Followed by
DVD screening of "The Power of Community²
(This DVD is a MUST-SEE... the inspiring and empowering story of how Cuba
survived an oil crisis and US embargo, embraced permaculture and food self
reliance, and insights into Cuba¹s unique community organisation)

Café opens 6.30pm  
Delicious menu with local produce, refreshments

This will be a chance for locals to explore candidate's policies in dealing
with the global warming crisis.

So come along, your presence and participation will be valued at the Passion
Cafe, located at 
Djanbung Gardens, 74 Cecil Street, Nimbin.
