If you're in Victoria, consider coming along to the permablitz going
down in South Gippsland next weekend May 12 and 13 which is going to
coincide with the official launch of The Permaculture Forest, a brand
new, no-holds barred model permaculture system in South Gippsland. The
plan is to turn the 15-acre paddock into a 15-acre (largely edible)
forest, starting on Monday May 7th with the implementation of a
mainframe water management design (integrated swales, ponds, drains,
access road and such like). The disturbed ground will then be
hydromulched with a variety of covercrops and then the blitz will see
us planting hundreds of trees, setting up the chook system, fencing in
the goose system, installing swale spillways, and heaps else. Busses
from Melbourne arrive in Leongatha periodically, and just give us a
call if you'd like us to fetch you from the bus station. Feel free to
arrive Friday night if it suits you, with the blitz rolling right on
through till Sunday evening including a major celebration on Saturday
evening. Come along to get a feel for the site (which is a
permaculture designer's dream) and the design at the very beginning of
its implementation. See http://permacultureforest.com and
http://www.permablitz.net/ for more info. It will be an amazing
weekend.

When: The weekend of May 12th and 13th
Where: 30 Hydes Road, Koorooman, Victoria. A bus leaves Southern Cross
Station in Melbourne on Saturday at 10:05am and we can meet you at
Leongatha station when you arrive at 12:10pm. Get in touch if you can
bring others by car or need a ride. Directions: Get to Leongatha on
the South Gippsland Highway (a bit under 2 hours drive from Melbourne)
then head out of Leongatha on the Strzlecki highway towards Mirboo
North. About 3 kms from Leongatha turn right onto Mardan road. After
6 km turn left onto Hydes Road and the blitz is at the first house on
the right.
What to bring if you want: A fruit or nut tree to plant, tree planting
tools, a sleeping bag, a mattress, maybe a tent (though it's a large
house with heaps of floor space), something edible.
