Composting Week is only a week away.

Media Update
Media bodies across the country have included, or will include, Composting
Awareness Week in their correspondence with Australia. Keep a look out for
Composting Week news in the paper, the television and on your radio!

State Launches 
WA ­ 5th May ­ 9:30AM ­ City Farm
The WA launch is the true launch of Composting Week ­ held on the 5th May at
the City Farm in East Perth. There will be exciting guest speakers and
events including:
* Official launch by the Minister for the Environment, presentations from
Barry Carbon (DEC) and Josh Byrne (benefits of re-use of organics).
* Demonstrations and information stalls including Zero Waste information
stall, worm-farm and composting equipment stalls and demonstrations, and
organic produce stalls.
* Give-aways of organic apples linked to a competition to win a years worth
of compost (courtesy of Custom Composts and facilitated by Zero Waste).

NSW ­ 8th May ­ 7:00AM ­ Hyde Park North
The NSW Launch event (Compost Breakfast) is being held on the 8th May in
Hyde Park, between 7:00-12:00. We have some exciting speakers,
demonstrations and promotions organised for the day. These include:
* Guest speakers 
* Composting & worm farming demonstrations by Keep Australia Beautiful Waste
Watchers & the City of Sydney
* Information stalls
* Product give-aways
NSW will also be holding a Composting Ball, a National event to mark the end
of ICAW 2007. Details of the Ball are provided below.

QLD ­ 8th May - 10:00AM - Radacliff Place, Brisbane Square
The Brisbane launch event is being held in Radacliff Place, Brisbane Square,
on the 8th May, between 10:00am and 2:00pm. This event is jam-packed with
exciting speakers, demonstrations and information stalls.
There will be worm farming, organic produce, water saving and city gardens
information stalls and demonstrations and much more!

VIC ­ 9th May ­ 7:30AM ­ Melbourne Zoo
In Victoria the launch event is being held on the 9th May at the Melbourne
Zoo, and will coincide with the launch of the Organic Certification Brand.
Events on the day include:
* Launch of the Compost Products Certification brand
* Talks by: Peter Sullivan, Melbourne Zoo, ŒQuality Compost Products Used
for Landscaping at Melbourne Zoo¹ ; Frances Saunders, Sustainable Gardening
Australia ŒThe Importance of Sustainable Landscaping¹; Scott Watson, Senior
Horticulture and Ecology Officer, VicRoads Design ŒLand rehabilitation using
compost soil conditioners & mulches after major earthworks¹.
* A Melbourne Zoo site tour and landscaping product development workshop
focused on developing further compost products specific to the urban
property development industry
