Greenhouse Solutions Symposium and Book Launch
of DR MARK DIESENDORF new book
WHERE: Main Theatre G04, New Law Building, UNSW Kensington Campus
WHEN: 5:30pm until 8pm on Tuesday 22 May 2007
A free public symposium on climate change issues and solutions is being held
on May 22nd at UNSW to launch a timely new book by Dr Mark Diesendorf of the
Institute of Environmental Studies (IES). Dr Diesendorf will present on the
technological, political and economic issues surrounding various renewable
energy solutions to mitigate global warming alongside Dr Iain MacGill, Dr
Muriel Watt and Mr Frank Muller, with the event chaired by Robyn Williams of
the ABC Science Show.
Dr Diesendorf's new book "Greenhouse Solutions with Sustainable Energy" (
http://www.unswpress.com.au/isbn/0868409731.htm) builds on his many years of
experience teaching and researching ecologically sustainable development and
greenhouse solutions at IES and previously as a Principle Research Scientist
at CSIRO, Professor of Environmental Science at UTS and Vice-President of
the Australia New Zealand Society for Ecological Economics. The book
explores the various technologies that have been proposed as solutions to
climate change and proposes scenarios and policies to make these solutions
feasible. Copies of the book will be available at the symposium for a
discounted price.
For more details on the symposium, including profiles of the speakers,
download the symposium flyer
(www.en.unsw.edu.au/TopSiteInfo/SydneySymposiumFlyer.pdf). Further see
www.sustainabilitycentre.com.au for more details.
The symposium is open to the public and there is no need to book. However,
to be sure of getting a seat, you are advised to arrive early.
