This sounds great! Does anyone know if Helena Norberg-Hodge will be
doing any gigs in Melbourne soon?
Also there was some interests in post oil machines not too long ago, I
have a real interest in these things too.
I spent the weekend crushing cider and pressing olive oil with my
home-made/modified grinder bike and wine press. The apples are wild
harvest from Central Victoria (and I think I have found a real cider
variety of apple this time, tastes good and tanninie), the olives are
wild harvest from the streets of inner city Melbourne. We get about 10%
extraction if it all goes well (i.e 10kg of olives gives 1 litre of
oil).
I took some photos this year and am happy to post them somewhere if
people are interested.

Leading relocalisation speakers to address Sydney gathering
Helena Norberg-Hodge, international campaigner for local food systems
and relocalisation, is to participate in the annual Ecoliving Fair in
Randwick on Saturday, June 16.
Ms Norberg-Hodge will be supported by Tim Winton from the Permaforest
Trust, a Permaculture training initiative in northern NSW. Tim promotes
understanding and preparing for peak oil, climate change and the
transition to a low carbon future.
Relocalisation seeks to boost local culture, food systems, livelihoods
and local economies as a means of strengthening communities against the
impact of global warming and the peaking of the global oil supply. The
speakers will adddress ways in which Sydney could look to local
resources and skills as a means of becoming a sustainable city.
Co-originator of the Permaculture design system, David Holmgren, has
spoken publicly in favour of relocalisation.
WHEN: Saturday June 16, 10.30am to 3.30pm.
WHERE: Randwick Community Centre, 27 Munda Street, Randwick. Turn south
down Hendy Avenue and right into Marida Street and into Munda Street.
COST: All events free.
FOOD: Available from food stalls.
