apols for cross posting
CERES in melbourne is running a program where refugees are learning to grow
shitake mushrooms.

I have been meaning to go in and meet some of the people involved and ask
them where they got their mushroom spawn.
hardware stores have the usual mushroom kits.
i collect mushrooms from the wild (I only ever take a few) and chuck them
around in my burgeoning forest garden. I check what comes up against my
fungi books (if in doubt, go without - or you might die) and eat what i can.
it also adds astronomically to the biodiversity and biomass. I have been
throwing around old shop bought mushrooms too - you could do this with some
substrate and shop mushrooms too. For substrate and other info look at
http://www.fungi.com/
they can't export here, but they have HEAPS of info on substrates and stuff.
Yours in Mushroom ecxtasy (and obsession)
Tamara
