Forwarded message:

On Sunday 2 December 2007 at precisely 9.30am, a number of community groups
will be gathering on North Steyne Beach in Manly to form a human sign, the
largest of its kind in

Australia with several thousand individuals (3,000 to 5,000 perhaps)
creating the words ŒLife Saving Energy¹ as part of a national campaign on
climate change awareness. It will be the National Launch for Life Saving
Energy with expected media coverage and arial photography taken of the day.
The National Launch has been awarded to North Steyne for its continued
commitment to the environment.

This initiative has the permission and support of Manly Council, Manly
Environment Centre and the North Steyne Surf Life Saving club along with
Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches. An Application for Events was
approved recently by the Council.

An action group consisting of CEFE, the Manly Council Sustainability panel
and North Steyne Surf Life Saving club representatives will be coordinating
the human sign as an adjunct to the whole day activities surrounding Manly
Environment Centres Ocean Care Day. I understand that as part of Ocean Care
Day there will be a police presence.

The project has been inspired by Dr Matthew Nott from a group which has its
roots in Bega called Clean Energy For Eternity. The aim of this grass roots
climate change group is to have communities consume less energy (50%) and
for more energy (50%) to be sourced from renewable energies i.e 50/50 by
year 2020 and will also be the Launch of the first of Manly¹s green Surf
Clubs with Solar hot water and rain water tanks being installed at North
Steyne by the 2 December launch.

The CEFE movement has spread rapidly since mid 2006 throughout South East
NSW and the first metropolitan chapters were recently established in Mosman
and Manly in October 2007.

We are targeting the whole community from businesses and churches, to
councils, clubs, schools, and social groups to take part.

We expect that the sign will disperse by 11.00am.

If you would like to be a part of this great initiative or need any further
information please contact Jo Cooper on 0418 6475 400 or to register.
