Perhaps not Bringelly, but the whole Sydney basin.
Years ago I went to a Dept of Agriculture activity about food production in
the Sydney basin activity, where it was asserted about 1 Billion dollars of
food from Sydney basin. The pressures for the farmers are enormous and you
get more selling land for houses than selling vegetables for people, so many
of them had moved from relatively close to the city further out as suburbia
encroached, especially poultry producers/and other animals like pigs. I
went at the time because of beekeeping, but the different groups/products
were amazing and eye opening.
In fact just off old Hume Hwy at Leppington, near Liverpool, there is
available a market garden for rent if anyone wants to convert a place (CSA).

Subject: [Pil-pc-oceania] Sydney bio-region / food production
Greetings,
The ABC ran a story a couple of years ago:
http://www.abc.net.au/rural/content/2005/s1525490.htm
... that asserted that 90% of Sydney's fresh produce was
grown in Bringelly.
This seems an astonishingly unreasonable figure, even for way
back in 2005. Can someone point me at some better and/or
more recent statistics for Sydney?
taa,
Jedd.
