Just a headsup - I saw this newly released flick a few days ago. It
raises the current "big issues" - Climate Change, Peak Oil, Species
Extinction and Population Growth and others.

It has a good go at trying to explain how and why we got here (by we,
I mean us First Worlders). Underwriting it is The Great Turning themes
from David Korten and Joanna Macy. Has lot's of talking heads from
various fields - Richard Heinberg, Daniel Quinn, Derrick Jensen, Jerry
Mander, Ran Prieur, Chellis Glendinning feature along with dozens of
others and plenty of ordinary folk as well.

The movie follows the narrator's journey of discovery and learning
about these topics (the narrator is also the writer/director so it's a
fairly personal journey). It becomes obvious that there isn't going to
be a "happy chapter", the solution is left for each of us to find.
However permaculture does get a word in right at the end! Score 1 for
the home team.

As a discussion starter it's ideal for community groups and small
group screening.

It may be doing the rounds eg. it screened at ANU a couple of weeks
back, so if you see flyers for it in your neighbourhood it's well
worth seeing. Or if you can, organise one yourself!

Trailers, info etc and the DVD can be found at -

Cheers, Andrew.
