Nicholas, Earth Hour is symbolic. Symbols and symbolic gestures have
great power (like the PM saying 'sorry.' It is a start, at the very
least. When the momentum builds, more and more ordinary people can be
drawn in and allowed to express themselves. When all those 'ordinary
people' take ownership of ideas and actions, like Earth Hour, no
corporate campaign will be able to take ownership. People Power.
This is where permaculture has great potential to facilitate the
empowerment of those people. Which, ultimately, can lead to this
idea....

Good communication and the willingness (and freedom) to get involved
are the keys. We are so fortunate these days to have such splendid
tools as e-mail, Skype-type telephony and the internet.
