Dear David Arnold and PIL communications sub-committee

I am just catching up on emails sent out just before the convergence.
David, I disagree with your logic that as "www.permacultureprinciples.com
is an international site, and the calendar will not be limited to
Australia. For this reason it no longer made sense to link the calendar
directly and solely to the
Australian based PIL."

PIL is still Permaculture International, even though it is an Australian
company and by law has to only have Australian citizens and permanent
residents on it's board of directors, it can still have members that are
international, and members of it's sub-committees can be international.
PIL already has "Permafund" and a subcommittee who looks after this fund.

By forwarding 20% of any profits of the calender to Permafund, David,
you'll also get a tax deduction from it and it will take the control and
responsibility out of your hands and give it to the permafund crew. Work
with PIL and you can help get the whole thing running better, with more
energy and support.

Also, what royalties are going to David Holmgren and Richard Telford from
the eventual profits of this calender?

Regards
Fern

PIL communications sub-committee,

Hello all,

we had some discussion last year about an Australian Permaculture
Calendar.

The calendar is hosted on the www.permacultureprinciples.com site
that Richard Telford has created.

The aim of the site is to help people understand the foundations of
permaculture, and how the principles can be applied to everyday
life. Information on the site is presented in a simple and visual way.

Through the photolog on the site we are giving permaculture designers
and practitioners at all levels the opportunity to share their photos
and stories, and sometimes to showcase their projects.

High quality photos can be submitted through the site to the
Calendar. If suitable they can go onto the photolog, and will go in
the running for selection in the calendar.

The following text is lifted from the site, and from the introductory
page to the calendar.

"A calendar for the people, by the people
You can submit your own photo and project description illustrating
one of the permaculture design principles. If your photo is selected
your contribution will be featured in the calendar and you will;
• receive five free calendars
• be credited in the calendar
• be invited to nominate a sustainability project or group to share
in 20% of profit from wholesale returns. "

www.permacultureprinciples.com is an international site, and the
calendar will not be limited to Australia. For this reason it no
longer made sense to link the calendar directly and solely to the
Australian based PIL.

Three sample pages of the 2009 calendar are attached for your
interest. These sample pages are samples only, they may yet not
make it into the 2009 calendar. All photos will be considered after
the closing date for photo submissions on August 31st 2008.

On Friday afternoon at APC9 in a combined presentation Richard will
launch the site, and I will introduce the Calendar, discuss style,
content, promotional opportunities, and marketing.

Might see you, and meet some of you, there.

regards,

David
