the following is from Jim Walsh, manufacturer of the minisulkies and the man
on the cart in the photo on www.permacultureprinciples.com

"I have been carting with my dog for 2-1/2 years and over 2,000 kilometers
in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, the Entrance and Port Stephens, and have
only once been advised that dog carting was prohibited in a particular place
- Sydney's Centenial Park - and that advice *proved to be false* - in fact
there are no restrictions on dog or goat carting anywhere in NSW. Other
customers cart in Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, and
none of them have reported any problems with bans or restrictions on
carting. An advertisment for Red Energy has been running on TV in Victoria
for more than two years, that advertisment shows a man (me) carting along
the beachfront near St Kilda.

Also, there is goat cart racing annually in Roma, Queensland, and has been
for very many years.


So, either there is no legislation against carting anywhere in Australia,
or, if it does exist somewhere, it is in a similar category to the old law
requiring cars to be preceeded by a man carrying a red flag, i.e. obsolete
and no longer enforced.


If anyone knows anything different, by all means feel free to quote the
legislation.
