On 30th January 1948, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, commonly known as
Mahatma (great soul) was assassinated by a Hindu extremist. What
kind of psychopath needs to dispose of a 79 year old pacifist in bare
feet you may well ask. Here is a clue: speaking truth can be harmful
to your health and longevity. Mahatma Gandhi was once asked by a
journalist in England: "Mr Gandhi, what do you think of western
civilisation?" and he replied "I think it would be a good idea".
Fortunately for us, his words of wisdom live on and are as relevant
today as they were at the time of his death 60 years ago, perhaps
even more so given the accelerated changing nature of the world these
days. "A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi" by Satish Kumar [7 mins 30
seconds] is an excellent way to honour this great soul's life of non-
violence, kindness and compassion for the earth and its people on the
occasion of the 60th anniversary of his tragic death. You can view
