Canadian farmers speak on a decade’s experience of GE canola

In early February, Vice President of the Canadian National Farmers Union,
Terry Boehm and Canadian farmer of 25 years, Arnold Taylor will address a
number of public forums in rural Victoria, New South Wales and South
Australia on Canada’s experience of commercially growing herbicide tolerant
GE canola. The forums will take place in Corowa, Penola and Marong.

Hosted by the Network of Concerned Farmers, the Canadians will share their
experience directly with Australian farmers, where GE Canola has been grown
for more than a decade. The Canadian speakers will discuss issues such as
segregation of non-GE and GE canola, liability concerns and seed control,
and the effect GE canola has had on Canadian markets.

Percy Schmeiser will also be touring Victoria in February. Percy is
Canadian canola farmer who was sued by Monsanto after GE canola
contaminated his crop. Rather than pay the fine, as thousands of farmers
all across North America have done, Percy decided to fight the case. The
legal battle still continues today.

Don't miss the opportunity to hear these farmers speak.
