Cydonia Permaculture Workshops and Courses Semester 1 2008.
Permaculture Design Course (PDC)
We will be running a full 72 hour+ PDC on weekends and long-weekends, making this an ideal format for those in full time work or otherwise unable to attend our two week residential course. As always we have a good balance of fieldtrips and classwork and a range of talented tutors, including co-founder of permaculture David Holmgren. Various venues including Hepburn, Heathcote, Violet Town and Castlemaine. Starts Anzac day weekend: 25,26&27 April.

Workshops
PERMACULTURE FOR YOUR GARDEN: A weekend workshop on creating a productive, organic, edible garden on a backyard scale - lots of hands-on learning as well as discussion on permaculture principles and practices Tutor: Beck Lowe Dates: 23&24 February, Bendigo
ORGANIC HOME ORCHARDING: This workshop will give you the practical information you need to design, develop, and manage your own permaculture home orchard, with a particular focus on the integration of your fruit trees into a small rural or urban garden design. You will be able to see and learn about many of the fruit and berry plants that are suitable for home orchards in SE Australia. Tutor: David Arnold. Dates: 8&9 March, Violet Town
PERMACULTURE STRUCTURES: Learn to build simple improvements to your permaculture projects from a range of materials. We will look at designs for trellises, animal housing, walls and fences, as well as participating in some small hands-on projects. INTRODUCTION TO PERMACULTURE: Wondering what this thing called permaculture is all about? Interested in permaculture but don't know where to start? We will cover basic permaculture principles and practices, tour an established permaculture property and inspire you for further action. Discounts for Gravel Hill Gardens volunteers. PERMACULTURE AND COMMUNITY: A workshop enabling participants working with communities to use permaculture principles as a means to realise solutions. The workshop will introduce the concept of Community Development as a means to sustainable community engagement. INTEGRATED TREES AND SHRUBS: Trees provide important yields such as fruit, timber, animal fodder and mulch, but they also perform many useful functions such windbreak creation, soil development and are an important element in Integrated Pest Management. This workshop focuses on the many ways that trees and shrubs can enhance, and be productive part of, your property,. We will cover the design, establishment and maintenance of multipurpose plantings, and details on sawlog and firewood production, animal fodder and habitat creation. Post-PDC training
Certificate III in Permaculture is run as a follow on to your PDC. Work on your own permaculture projects to acquire a Nationally Recognised qualification. Training includes your own project work, workshops and regular electronic communication with the tutor and other participants.
We can also tailor courses to your needs, for instance Introduction to Permaculture courses at your local Neighbourhood House or a Certificate I in Permaculture at your local community garden. Contact us with your ideas and requests!
