[Pil-pc-oceania] PDC numbers a new thing

I suspect PDC numbers are something to do with certificates issued by the
Permaculture Institute.
As Robyn says, some teachers issued their own certificates, particularly if
they found the Institute's course structure unsuited to their locale. That's
not to say they did not cover much the same topic list, just that they may
have placed differing emphasis on different topics. This is what we did in
Sydney where we offered an urban oriented PDC in the 90s. We didn't ignore
rural content but we were stronger on the urban as the city was where most
of our students planned to stay.
The reality is that the Institute's course structure does not suit all -
permaculture is not a 'one size suits all' thing, it seems. One man I spoke
to recently said that, while he enjoyed his PDC, which he completed
recently, it was not all that suited to his planned application of the
information. I suggested that the principles and many of the ideas he leaned
were adaptable to different circumstances and he agreed with this. He found
the broadacre, rural content of less personal value.
I think that naming the teacher should provide sufficient verification that
someone has done a PDC.
