The property will stay whole, with freehold ownership of individual homes.
Either strata title legislation, or other legislation such as companies act
to produce a result similar in effect to strata title.
This property is still zoned rural, so the planned co-housing development is
not permissable at this stage. A spin-off of this project has been the
development of a Violet Town and District Community Plan in 2007. [some
elements of this Community Plan are similar to some of the transition towns
ideas in the UK]
At the Community Opportunity Workshop which was used to initiate this
community planning process, the 80 people present listed as their number one
priority the development of a Strategic Plan for Town and District. We are
still working to get our Council to engage with us in a community based
review of land planning here.
