Interesting, I was going to mention peppermint oil as ants can't
tolerate that for some reason, so I usually put it around door posts
to prevent them coming inside for the honey in the cupboard. I wonder
if simply putting up peppermint plants works ?

Ive been reading that tansy, wormwood and others work wonders as
deterrents, still lots to learn in the guild planting department :)
