Subject: [Pil-pc-oceania] National Permaculture Day

Hi All,
I would like to get the discussion going re the national day as I think a
good date for the first one is fast approaching.
I would like us to discuss the following. We can do it all at once or stage
it as decisions will be based on previous decisions.

Question 1
Do we agree a National Permaculture Day will promote our work? The
advantages.

Yes I agree as stated at APC

Question 2
Exploration of the possible ways that each group or individual could use
this day as a springboard.

I think each group can do what they do best, eg open days, do it yourself
days, talks, etc

Question 3.
Who or what organisation would create the day...the pronouncement, the
national media coverage and provide support to individuals and groups?

If we had a day, then we all promote it at our own levels until such a time
as we get a strong national body. As PIL becomes Permaculture Australia,
and as everyone gets onboard to do activities through the committees, this
can be one of the committees called " publicity group " or something like
that.

Question 4
How can people all celebrate the day, highlighting the work of permaculture
when it is the same day but different climate all over Australasia Pacific?

Because even if a garden isnt at its best, we are saying that Permaculture
is more than a garden - so it shouldn't matter what day it is on, and if we
are truly living and eating from our gardens, then succession planning
should be in evident otherwise it means going to Coles or Woolies. It is
more than a garden, it is a house in context, it is a community, ie design.

Question 5
What day will we choose?

While I appreciate that it is Bills Birthday, I do not think this should be
the day, but it should be May Day or the closest Sunday to that day. May
Day because that represents "help needed" therefore we are providing
solutions.

Thanks for getting this conversation started again.
