When was permaculture one published? I can't find it anywhere on the web, and I don't have it here.

Regarding the irony of the adoption of an old religious day, I was merely suggesting that this time of year (autumn, in particular may in the southern hemisphere) is when it is thought the new year begins in the old EARTH based ways. Permaculture is an earth based science and art. The new year brings new dawn - which is permaculture.

I know I have said this and others also
before, it needs to be away from a personality, otherwise why is it not on Davids birthday?? If it was on a date the book was launched, or
the thesis written, or something that is better than a birthday,

If it is based on an old religious day,
then it is just ironic that we adopt a religious day to promote our cause, like
the Christians chose heathen worship days to gain acceptance by the people. However I suppose that day would not always
be a weekend day. – so the Sunday after a date
would be better.

I think let each region pick its own
emphasis or theme, rather than set one nationally, because it would be amazing
to even get a decision on a day, let alone a theme, so lets not push things too
much. That way you can have urban, broadacre, penthouse or balcony, community centre or
picnic, and it all be a permaculture
thing.

Sue
