No-one posted a preference for a solstice date, so neither appear in
the summary. Time-zone variations don't matter if we pick a Sunday
closest to a seasonal event.

Good suggestion seeing that the aim is to expand eventually to a World
day.

Convergence dates are set by the hosts of the event. They use their
best judgement. There will need to be multiple hosts for a NPD so we
have to find a way to reach consensus among the participating groups.
Recent posts have brought up the date of publication of Permaculture
One again. David was asked and said he doesn't remember. Bill has been
asked (by Tamara) and I haven't heard if she got a response. I
contacted Transworld Publishers in the UK and was advised by Random
House Australia in Sydney (who took over the Corgi business) that
their records don't go back to 1978. So we've drawn a blank on that
one. In any case it would still need to be at a convenient time of
the year to be considered as date to pin the National Day on.

Actually I did omit one contribution from the summary. Ian Lillington
