 Ah, I see.  I'd imagine it's easier to take them off cows that have
 died (from whatever cause).  I've seen horns removed from a cow
 just once in my life, and it was pretty messy - but then I'm fairly
 squeamish, and I think the blood spurting thing only went on for
 a few minutes (it just seemed longer).

 But presumably there are plenty of cows that keel over and whose
 horns are up for the taking.  Industrial-style farms, IIRC, tend to
 poll their animals to reduce injuries between them, and to make
 it easier to handle them, so perhaps not as many as I might think.

 Hmmm .. is it just me, or did an already surreal subject manage to
 get even more bizarre.  It'd be great to see the results of a double-
 blind test of this stuff - especially if it included samples that used
 unhappy cows, bulls, sheep, and, say, tupperware.
