 Why so?

 I think it uses animals in much the same way that a normal
 compost does - it benefits from them, but doesn't require one
 to actively slaughter anything for / in the process.  I may be
 wrong, though.

 I have a most excellent sheep horn that we had to remove from its
 former owner (Wiltshire breed) because it had twisted around and
 was starting to poke him in the eye.  I'd observe that it's a curious
 old thing that I can't make BD preps from a sheep horn, but I see
 that you think the location of stars has some relevance to planting.
