Hi Colin,
Sean and I have had a few conversations along these lines. I'm currently
working on a sustainability discipline called PatternDynamics. It is a
pattern language developed to help us live and collaborate in new ways based
on whole systems thinking as we enter into what I call the 'era of
transition'. I see this transition as the adaptation from our current growth
oriented society to a society adapted to living creatively within the limits
imposed by the biosphere. Using less and sharing more through creative
collaboration based on whole systems thinking are a key strategy of
PatternDynamics. Turning our focus from outer, material pursuits to more
inner personal development and self actualization is another. Both of these
approaches can be of service to and manifest from working with what I call
'living sustainability'- sustainability as a daily lived experience in body,
mind and spirit; self, culture and nature that progresses sustainably
towards a more balanced way of engaging with the biosphere.
PatternDynamics is intended to give us a new 'systems thinking' way of
seeing and acting in the world that extends beyond just technical solutions.
More pragmatically it's designed to help us learn to collaborate in new and
creative ways in organizations and projects that are the living vehicles to
sustainability and a more meaningful life.
I'm looking for skilled web/IT folks who can help develop a web site to
facilitate this collaborative learning community. I've attached the
PatternDynamics chart which forms the basis of the systems thinking pattern
language for your interest (and everyone else's).
Also, we will be running at least one, free, one-day PatternDynamics
workshop this year to help develop the training program. Anyone who is
interested in participating can reply to me privately and I'll put them on a
list of potential participants.
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Sean,
I'm a software/web developer in Brisbane and have been trying to find a way
for a while to put this into something meaningful towards positive change
for these type of issues. I could be very interested in collaborating on
something like this.
If that could be helpful at all just let me know.
Cheers,
Colin Bankier.

Skip about thirty minutes into this audio track if you are familiar with the
challenges we face and you want to get to the interesting bits about new
forms of internet based collaboration as a way forward.
This sounds very exciting indeed. You and Thomas Homer-Dixon have inspired
me to start thinking about this online collaborative network.
