Hello there from David.

 Have you heard
of Peak Oiland Climate
Change? May well be yes….

 Well, what about

‘Transition
Towns’ –
(the UK. Initiative,

                                                           incl. the Sunshine Coast)

and ‘Relocalisation’ – (the US.
Initiative)

                    (please check these
on the net)

 An
introduction;

'Peak Oil’ and ‘Climate Change'’

If you've not heard of these, please check on the net,

they are hugely important to our wellbeing,

individually, communally and environmentally,

and are largely un-reported, or mis-reported.

The
response
to all these problems is, in essence,

to localise
as much as possible, our sustainable

 Food
supplies, and agriculture,

Water
supplies,

Energy
supplies,

Transport,

Culture,

Family
and friends,

Media,

Medicines
and health,

Education,

Money,

Production,

Building,

Wisdom, etc., etc., ……you name it……

      what-ever
we’re into, we’re needed.

In
September ’08 we have, Australia-wide,

local
Council elections.

 We
can ask candidates:

*1) What do you know about Peak Oil,
                    and Climate
Change?

*2) What are your ideas to sustainably re-localise our Culture, and
Economy (as above)?

*3) Do you Candidates want to hear from our many local
experts?

*4) We locals have lots of good, practical,
inexpensive ideas.

And
then we have a realistic view of who to vote for.

 Today,

the
gigantic Saudi Arabian oil fields’ production
is not
increasing as it has in the past decades. And it's the continuing increase that's so important to 'economic growth'.

 In
fact 60 of the 98 oil producing countries of the world,
- including US (1970), UK
(1999), Australia (2001) -
have
already experienced this…..
it’s called peak oil production.

 And
when Saudi peaks, this is Global Peak Oil Production.

 Check on the net;

Colin Campbell (major oil geologist)

Mat Simmonds (major energy banker),

they know their stuff.

This
means that the era of
cheap
oil use
that we were raised on
for
energy, plastics, agriculture, entertainment, etc., is over.

 It’s over
and
the corporate media is not telling us yet.

 What
to do???

Answer- it’s up to us, we know
heaps, thank goodness.

‘Democracy’
and corporations have landed us in this situation.

The
golden rule is 3-fold….

 Care for the Earth

Care for Community

Care for the Individual.

These 3 are equally indispensable,

as in we need a healthy brain, and heart, and
liver,

we can’t afford any of these to be sick.

Let’s
get together.

Let’s
say, as a Transition Town,
- forgetting parties
and movements -

it is imperative to join forces

for our own well being,

we can’t do it alone,

we must do it to survive Climate Change

                                        and Peak Oil (energy descent).

Please network your friends,
forward this to contacts,

talk about all this,
check the net,

keep your ears open for more developments,

and email me if you want so we can stay in touch.

Byron Shire residents (and wherever else you are living)deserve to form a

Byron
Shire Transition Town.
Let’s do it.

What’s
the alternative?

 Cheers,

David.
