[Trusties] Climate Change Risk Analysis

I completely agree with your position promoting intelligent risk management. How we respond and what we to try and mitigate this risk is the big issue that we should be focusing on. Prime example, agriculture is seen as a big carbon polluter necessitating a carbon cap and trade system and taxes? Only if we want to "trade" our wealth (land) into institutional/ corporate hands with questionable benefit to the environment. New Zealands emissions trading scheme (ETS) as it stands does not include soil as per the Kyoto Protocol, too hard to measure/ compare/ monitor soil carbon quantities/ changes? This system would provide a massive economic cost to farming, (livestock especially) and produces little incentive to farm biologically (increase soil carbon, reduce carbon inputs).
"The answer is in the soil."
The Rodale Institute Research paper on farming as a solution to global warming is on the right track. The problem is the solution, see solutions not problems. Is the real problem not the dominant linear, reductionist World View, that is promoting carbon cap and trade systems plus taxes as the solution? WORLD VIEW, PERSPECTIVE????????

Worth a watch, however, I can point out a few flaws in the logic.

1. Economic downside is not something to be taken lightly- this could
affect the well being/lives of many more people than climate change.

2. The weighting of prestigious institutions argument- have prestige has
never stopped large institutions from undermining their credibility for a
benefit.

3. The 'handful' of dissenting scientists argument. This is a common
myth, but just not true.

Having outlined the points above, intelligent risk management of the climate
change issue, advocated in the video, is the best way forward, from my
perspective. Have a look and kick in your own 2 cents.
